SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — Depending on your Christmas plans, you might be preparing for the big dinner by doing all the cooking yourself.

Or maybe you let someone else deal with the meal.

KSLA News 12 talked with one Shreveport caterer about what they’ve seen from customers this Christmas holiday.

Christmas Eve found Shaver’s Catering putting the finishing touches on its holiday meal orders.

“Christmas is not quite as big for pickups as Thanksgiving, but we’ll run probably 400 orders today. So that could be a whole family meal as one order,” owner/operator Chuck Sartori said.

He said people are picking up a range of traditional and non-traditional foods.

“Turkeys, fried turkey, smoked turkeys, lots of hams and all the sides,” Sartori said. “Our au gratin potatoes, dressing, broccoli and rice casseroles. And the non-traditional stuff like seafood gumbo, etoufee and even crab claws like you saw earlier.”

But the old standards are this year’s hot commodities.

“Our dressing and fried turkeys is what we sell more of, but it just gets bigger and bigger every year.”
