JACKSON, Tenn. — Christmas day has passed, but the holiday spirit is still in full effect.
Thursday, Aldersgate Methodist Church partnered with RIFA to serve dinner to the homeless and those going through a tough time.
The church has been volunteering to serve one Thursday of every month for the past seven years. This is the church’s way of reaching out and spreading love to the Jackson community. This event was extra special to members of the community that, otherwise, would not have had a Christmas meal.
Reverend Chris Cooksley sheds light on why this event is so remarkable.
“Christmas reminds us of the time that we can give gifts, we can give of ourselves, even if we don’t have any materials or resources, we can certainly spend some time loving on people, sharing with them, and sharing the love of Christ,” said Reverend Cooksley.
