Realizing that many of us just got a new pellet grill for the holidays, I thought it necessitated a reminder that both Sam's Club and Costco sell some of the best name brand pellets under their own brand. I like Bear Mountain and just got a 40lb bag of pellets for $15.00 at Sam's.

Aw man I just got a 20lb bag of Bear Mountain pellets for $20 off amazon.
Thanks for the recommendation though!
I used the Costco ones for a brisket the weekend before Christmas. It was in my Walmart Pit Boss Classic 700. They burned perfectly and smelled great.
Family loved the brisket so much they took all the leftover and left us everything else.
In short, I’m going to keep using them.
FYI my Sam’s didn’t carry this but Walmart did for the same price.
These are my go to, not the blue bag though
Thanks for the heads up! Another good one to keep in mind is Atwoods carries Lumberjack pellets. Usually 10 bucks or less for 20lbs. They run clearance frequently as well.
I’ve been using the Kirkland pellets for awhile and I am very happy with them
Smokehouse isn’t a Sam’s brand. They are sold other places. Menards and Runnings that I know of. I’ve personally had good luck with them.
Kirkland are good, but then when you use Lumberjack you can really see how good that pellets can be.
Been smoking for about 8mo and did not know this. Thanks for posting OP. I usually use Pit Boss pellets I pick up at Lowe’s. I’ve seen Sam’s brand pellets and wanted to try them but was not sure on them. If they are just rebagged Bear Mountain I’ll have to pick some up. I’ve used Bear Mountain that I got from Lowe’s, but they seem to constantly be out of them.
I have no issue with Pit Boss pellets… But I like having options.
Thanks again
Smokehouse is a Lignetics-owned brand and aside from the low-rent-looking packaging I can’t tell them apart from sister brand Bear Mountain.
Thanks for this.
Cooked on pit boss/Kirkland pellets. Zero complaints.

Someone on here a while ago recommended to me the royal oak charcoal pellets mixed in with Kirkland and it makes a good difference
Also recommend getting some charcoal pellets, brand is Royal Oak. Usually sold at Walmart
Resturaunt supply stores are a great deal too 9.49$ for a 20lb back not gonna beat that also the costco blend for 40lb is great
I used to drive to local guy who sourced lumberjack pellets, but after using my grill for 4 years I don’t notice a huge difference. Don’t notice a huge difference in flavors.. but there is subtle differences depending on the meat.
Don’t over pay for pellets your wasting money
Had 2 bad bags in a row of Kirklands in the past couple months. Not sure if it’s a qc issue or if there is a shipping/storage issue. There an excessive amount crushed/shredded pellets. It would have taken forever to sift em. Before that it was all I used. Going to give my store a few months to work past their current supply and try again in a few months.
I stocked up on Sam’s!! They’re good!!
Nope, local bbq store.
My local Walmart sells like 3-4 different blends of Bear Mountain.
Edit: Just checked the app. My Walmart is currently carrying Chefs Choice (Hickory, Cherry, Oak, Maple) and maple bourbon pecan.
I swear like a month ago I bought a bag of the Chophouse Blend from there and had the smoky apple whiskey flavor as well.
Regardless, Walmart carry’s all the different flavors and if your individual store doesn’t carry them you can still get them shipped for free to your specific store and some are discounted.
If you don’t have a membership at those, B&B championship blend is also $20 for 40lb at Academy and it works great for everything for me.
Out here in TX Pit Boss brand pellets are $15/40# at Walmart and $16/40# at Lowes. Very high turnover of stock so it’s fresh stuff and not stuff sitting around for months. I’m sure Costco is fresh too because if something doesn’t sell, it’s gone.
