I somehow got passed a soft opening reservation from a friend of a friend who couldn’t attend and the food was great.
Standouts: prosciutto di parma and bufalo mozzarella made a perfect bite with the thicker bread he makes that looked like the base of his Roman pizzas; the oxtail tagliatelle was rich, meaty and had some delightful textural bites (maybe rendered crispy fat from the meat but I can’t be sure); bone-in NY strip with honey and black pepperand the cherry sorbetti.
I love that the cherry sorbetti and gelato weren’t tiny petite scoops but more similar to what you’d get in Rome and absolutely punches you in the face with flavor.
We also ordered the suppli pesto and it was so crispy (I’m an absolute fiend for texture) but found the pesto version to be too dry for me, something that would likely be fixed by choosing the suppli ragu one next time.
I’d skip the zeppole di san giuseppe (like an eclair with pastry cream) and just go for the gelato or sorbet for dessert.
DO NOT BE LIKE ME and miss ordering the restaurant’s namesake dish — the carciofo alla guida — because it looked incredible and I shall live in regret until I can correct this. Shame!
All in all, I’ll definitely go back. Rosemary’s a 10/10 for me and is still my favorite of the two but this will be a tough reservation for good reason.
