I was gifted an old BBQ055, manufactured in 2012. Electronics, auger, and fan appear to working but the smoker will not get any hotter than ~280°F, regardless of temp setting. I’ve thoroughly cleaned the full smoker and am using quality pellets.
Any suggestions on where to start? I can pickup a new controller kit with temperature probe and igniter hot rod from Amazon for ~$40, I’m thinking that’s the best place to start?
Any help bringing it back to life would be greatly appreciated!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

The new controller kit you mentioned is a great place to start! The temp probes are temperamental. And controllers have been made much better since 2012.
Still have my original BBQ055 I bought from Costco when they first introduced Treagers in one of their road shows. I took care of and its still in great shape , added a smoke stack chimney to it. works great and I can get it to 390 degrees. Whats great is I go online and troubleshoot with Treager customer service and they have replaced my fan and probe for free. small but good size , have done 16lb Turkey in it . Still good unit. Suggest you get online with Treager chat support and they are great to help you get things going.
Trade you issues. Mine just goes through the roof with temps immediately lol
