Buffalo wings are perhaps one of the most iconic and ubiquitous American appetizers and comfort foods. You can pretty much find them in any American city or town, perhaps Canada too I haven’t looked! UK fans, can you find them in the UK too? But who invented Buffalo wings? Where were Buffalo Wings invented? I had to go to the source for where Buffalo wings were invented, Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York.

Buffalo’s Anchor Bar’s original buffalo wings are still hyped today! They were the bar that invented the buffalo wings about 60 or so years ago, and they still make them the same way today! Despite how widespread Buffalo wings are today, not just in Buffalo, NY, or in upstate or western NY, but across all of North America, many still attest that Anchor Bar is the best buffalo wings in Buffalo! We shall put that to the test, as that’s impressive to me!

We will also try another Western NY food, the Buffalo beef on weck. Anchor Bar’s beef on weck is also highly regarded. Beef on weck is more or less a roast beef sandwich on a German kimmelweck roll, and every restaurant or bar that serves it claims their beef on weck recipe is the best.

Is Anchor’s bar’s buffalo wing recipe still the best one around? We shall find out together! This is a great vid you don’t want to miss, and it marks the 200th episode of UA Eats! I couldn’t think of a better topic!

  1. This was UA Eats' 200th video! Wow we've come so far on this channel, I still remember vividly when I had single digit subs. A perfect milestone just in time for the Holidays!

  2. Hey UA, do you ever come to Delaware. I know a great steakhouse in town i can take you to if you make it.

  3. We went there when my daughter started college at UB. They were okay. Definitely not a fan of wings from Buffalo. Especially since the few times that I've had them. They were barely cooked. I work in a restaurant that serves wings. I'm not a fan of barely cooked wings.

  4. Going to the OG wing spot in the country and get soup and chicken tenders ?!? I would have ordered 4 different wing flavors at minimum! Maybe next time go with a couple buddies and sample them all.

  5. The owners were long-time friends of my family. I painted the outside of the building. Just the bricks. Not the artwork. I was a dishwasher in there just before the guy who replaced me was murdered in the kitchen there.

  6. 21:22 Chicken "tenders" are called "chicken fingers" at any pizza joint that you go to in Buffalo. I've never heard them called "tenders" in Buffalo.

  7. For any out-of-towners thinking of visiting this location on Main & E. North Street, be very careful. It's a very high-crime area & a lot of rats, the size of cats around. The nice thing about this location though, is that a lot of celeberties go in here, espcially if they're doing a concert downtown. I met the entire band "Winger" in the parking lot, and Jamie Lee Curtis, just to name a couple at this location.

  8. They way that soup had bubbles going around the sides of the bowl tell me that, that soup has past it's prime brother ..it's fermented..

  9. Not so good not much choice on dry rub simply deep fried. I would pass on this restaurant great review thank you

  10. Bro the sandwich is meant to be dipped. You literally sht on the sandwich without eating it to it's full potential 😂 I don't get you sometimes

  11. Anchor Bar is legendary but their wings suck. Duffs had probably the best but some dive bars were great like The Pub on Broadway… Biggest wings anywhere and not expensive. 35 years ago my favorite place was The Urban Inn, shot and a beer for $1 and $.10 wings.

  12. Ordering regular Buffalo medium then criticizing them for not being spicy enough is goofy. Original Buffalo is tangy….not hot. Strange

  13. My uncle went on a business trip to Buffalo sometime in the 70’s and had Buffalo Wings. I’m not sure he ate at this place or another place but wherever it was, they gave him the recipe. He made them as a treat on special occasions but he always served them with sliced pickles. He only made them on special occasions because wings were hard to come by at the time. He had to save wings from the chickens he bought whole and cut up. Sometimes he would use chicken legs if he was short on wings. I actually like the legs better, so I didn’t mind. The first time I had them was in 1982 during the Freezer Bowl. I remember them being so spicy that they burned my entire mouth and throat, but boy they were good. I never dipped them in blue cheese dressing until I was in my early 20’s and that changed everything. That is the only way I eat them now. Fun fact Franks Red Hot originated in Cincinnati and was made here for decades.

  14. We are extremely lucky to live in Western New York, truth be told our gas station wings are better than 90% of the rest of the United States..

  15. UA, For The Love Of God Please Stop Ordering Something and Expecting Something Different!! You ordered original (medium) Wings and expected Hot or Super Hot Wings!! Help Us Help You😂😂❤
