FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Rescue Mission in downtown Fort Wayne is continuing its annual tradition of providing free meals for anyone in need during the holiday season.
The Rescue Mission, located at 404 E. Washington Blvd., is set to serve its second-largest holiday meal on Tuesday, Dec, 24, from noon to 3 p.m.
The meal is free, open to all, and is available for either dine-in, carry-out, or drive-thru. There is a limit of three meals per person.

Shelter leaders say they served 4,000 Christmas meals last year and are preparing to serve more than 5,000 this year because of increased demand during the winter season.
“Homelessness and food insecurity are not new issues, but we have seen a rise throughout the year and expect it to continue with the ongoing cold weather and economic conditions. We recognize this increased need and are doing our best to help.
We are grateful to be able to open our doors to serve those in need this Christmas season.”
The shelter thanked the American Electric Power Foundation, its local ministry partners, and volunteers who helped make the meals possible through donations and preparation efforts.
