In Morocco, my father would hold the seder plate over each person’s head at the table and sing “Bibhilu,” which translates to “In haste, we left Egypt.” It has become a symbolic blessing and a tradition the family waits for in great anticipation at every seder. When the Seder is over we all look foward to a big beautiful meal which usually starts with a comforting soup. My mother used to make fava bean soup which is very popular and traditional in Morrocco. These days I make two soups matzah ball soup and fava bean. And everyone gets to pick. This is a light vegetable soup but traditionally it had marrow bones and some meat which made it so delicious and rich.
