This and Altoona-style pizza shows that Pennsylvania can’t be trusted to make their own food.

  2. We have a chicken version in Quebec, Canada, with shredded chicken breast and peas in the gravy. It’s delicious!

That’s a common kind of dish in eastern canada. Hot chicken or hot hamburger sandwich. Meat and gravy on bread usually served with fries and some kind of vegetable like peas, carrots, or corn.

I’m not upset about this. Reminds me of a Salisbury Steak!

  5. The concept of an open faced burger with gravy and fries sounds pretty good. This thing looks awful though.

PA just wanted to copy a poutine & was like let’s throw a hamburger on it.

That’s a hot mess. But it probably tastes great.

Looks like a hot hamburger sandwich to me, I’ve had it with loose hamburger instead of a patty as well. This is extremely normal food.

That’s literally a hot chicken sandwich using hamburger and beef gravy. Looks good…ish. That burger looks a little too thick for my liking.

Now I’m curious. Is there a different dish that would be called Cold Hamburger? Since they’ve specifically described this as hot. Ya know what I mean?

The fuck it is. I’ve Lived in PA for 30 years and never heard of or seen this abomination.

I’m in PA too. We also have hot turkey sandwiches and hot roast beef sandwiches. Any of these offerings are winners.

Oh. I am currently in malaysia for a research exchange program, and restaurants sell things like this (two pieces of chicken sandwiched together by cheese and smothered in gravy) and call it “western food”.

I guess i cant say its not now

You have to say where in PA.

PA could reasonably be split into at least three states, culturally speaking.

Living in Philadelphia, I can tell you a lot about the food traditions of New Jersey, Delaware and the New York metro area, but I know nothing about Pittsburgh, Scranton or Erie.

People in Erie can tell you all about food in Rochester and Buffalo, but don’t know shit about Philly.

Pittsburgh is its own thing, but shares more with Ohio than anywhere else.

All of this to say, I’ve never heard of this “Hot Hamburger” thing, and I have 40 years on this earth in Pennsylvania.
