Congrats, you don’t have a peanut allergy!

  2. munkychum

I wonder if you’ve outgrown your allergy. When did you last have a peanut reaction?

  3. JaydenPope

either you need to be retested or there are not enough peanuts in the jar to trigger your allergy

If you have a EpiPen depending on what your doctor says it’s probably time to take it and head to the ER. This is not medical advice but I have a severe allergy to bees, wasps, bald faced hornets and if I get stung it is EpiPen, benadryl and I damn well better be near a hospital. I carry two when I am out camping or in a remote area. Enough to hopefully get me to the hospital.

If you are allergic as you say you are you better be leaving for the hospital ASAP. Last time I had it I had to go to the ER and they gave me epinephrine, ranitidine, and benadryl. You have histamine receptors and they have to treat both the external and internal.

Food allergies are a weird beast. Some people can grow out of them as they get older and some get worse. Some of us can suddenly develop allergies later on in life to food. Basically human bodies are weird.

Also when you say half a jar is this over multiple sittings? Because if so what you may have done is dose yourself with micro doses and you may have trained your body to accept peanuts. Sometimes allergists in controlled settings do this.

Cause its soooooo good.. your body was like ‘nope, we aren’t gonna be allergic to this good shit’.

Also, you have a decent spice tolerance cause that’s some hot stuff 😂😓

‘Chinese peanuts are much better than American quality peanuts’- some health guru probably

  7. Damn_Canadian

That chili crunch stuff is so addictive! I don’t blame you.

Allergens are weird. Maybe there was more to it than first realized, keep on ya toes and be safe as ya can. I recommend getting tested again if u have health care, or eating a a handful in an ER fafo

I never knew it had peanuts in it. I eat that brand all the time.

    I hope you’re okay.

Why the hell are you posting this now? It happened a week ago! Gah! What a waste of my time! Have you even made an appointment for allergy testing?

  11. JadedFlower88

So… peanut protein can denature. The primary allergen that most people are allergic to (not everyone and not exclusive) is Ara h 1. At prolonged temperatures of about 195f to 230f, it unravels, so to speak, depending on other factors.

You may have just gotten lucky with this happening in this jar, or it may be that your allergies have changed. Either way, be careful, maybe get another allergen test, and omg, please read labels carefully!

I had this same thing happen. I have a deadly tree nut allergy, accidentally ate some chili oil and it had almonds in it. Nothing happened and I ate a decent amount. Also think it has to do with the high heat.

Laoganma is my favourite Chinese condiment – we call it Chinese Crack. I’m pleased you didn’t have a reaction to this nectar of the gods!

  14. AnTeallach1062

Why are you eating foods without reading the labels?

You say that you have a severe peanut allergy, yet you are consuming foods of unknown ingredients. You are an idiot?

  15. Deanosaur12

Mate of mine has a peanut allergy. He used to get five guys on a night out and we randomly found out that the fries are cooked in peanut oil (or some nut oil)He never had an issue but did stop eating them when we found out.

We can only assume it was because the oil was cooked

  16. RandyTheFool

There’s whole ass peanuts in there, man. How did you get through half the jar?

  17. Because the expiration date is “MM/DD/YYYY”, which everyone knows hasn’t happened yet. That’s when the peanuts are activated. /s

  18. monumentValley1994

You never had peanut allergy, you were just doing DRAMA!

  19. CharlottePendragon

I’m sure you don’t have a peanut allergy.

  20. Krapmeister

Ingredients.. something indiscernible.. if you can’t read it it’s not there.

  21. alesiaaisela

I’m allergic to peanuts (example: last week I had a small reaction after touching the container peanut butter cookies were in) but I can eat Chick-fil-A with zero issues. 🤷🏽‍♀️

  22. Why would you ask reddit this question instead of seeing a doctor?

  23. Pharmacist here!

No, you did not grow out of your allergies (AFAIK, cause it is possible and I recommend retesting, just in case)

All those who are allergic to Peanuts, are allergic to a specific kind of toxin found on them called **aflatoxin**. When you cook peanuts, you break those toxins down and get a milder version, which can still be allergenic to some.

PS: That’s why, on the majority of the world, peanuts are roasted before consumption (Just a bit, though)
