It is Jan 2nd and after spending the first day of the year in front of the fire place, today the sun came out again. Time to get into some of the NYE leftovers. No detailed notes, just reflections on the wine. From left to right:
2017 David Duband Chambolle Musigny Les Sentiers: Disappointing. Muted upon opening with no significant improvement over the course of 2+ days. Nice structure of acidity and tannins but very little notes on both palate and nose. A stew of indistinguishable dark fruits, some cherry, strawberries.. not much else.
2022 Julien Guillot Macon Cruzille Au Quin Chateau: Energising. This producer continues to impress me and, to my taste, hits a great balance of classical elegance and a youthful energy in all of his bottlings I’ve tried so far (the cuvee 910 being a favorite).
1982 Parcé Frères Rivesaltes: Complete. One of my favorite styles of sweet wine, given it pairs amazingly with blue cheeses, which I also adore. Tons of caramel, raisins, pear, a touch of salinity. Lovely but not much more complex than a 2002 bottling of this producer we opened the same night.
2009 Tissot Savannen Seis: Weird, in an uninteresting way. Oxidative Savagnin with a confusingly sharp nose of blue cheeses, hiding some of the finer notes of sherry, almond, white flowers, and underripe stone fruit. Despite the nose, it made for a great Vin Jaune substitute for a sauce to go with poularde, morels and truffle. The first bottle of Tissot that I did not enjoy.
NV Laherte Frères Blanc de Blanc Brut Nature: Elegant. My go-to BdB for a “simple” expression of what I love about champagne. Elegant but approachable. Equally enjoyed by wine novices and enthusiasts in my circle.

I love Laherte. One of my top 5 Champagne producers. I recenty had a bottle of David Duband and I had the same feeling as you. Super meh, if it was a blind tasting and I would have to set a price I would pay for that bottle, I would have said 12-13€
I have that bottle of Laherte in my wine fridge! Excited to open it now.
