First time drinking Caymus. I wanted to love it, but man it’s so over rated. Not worth the price at all.

You could tell it was real wine, and it has some semblance of being great, but it was just lacking. The nose was great, you could tell it was a Napa cab for sure. Following the nose, the body was lacking. Pretty thin and overly sweet. Lack of tannins. Tannins finally showed up at hour 3 of the decant, but then it just became hot. ABV started showing in a bad way. Finish was lame.

For how much people talk about this wine, I expected a lot more. Absolutely not worth the price. There are much better Cabs in Napa for cheaper.

Glad I tried it. Wouldn’t buy again.

Agree. It’s mostly marketing hype. Same with Stag’s Leap. To me, if they sell it at Costco it’s not that special. Drinkable but overhyped. Try Raymond’s Vineyards.

  3. I’m curious who’s rating it that you consider it *over*rated

Special Selection is actually good. Overpriced but good. Regular Caymus is garbage.
