Let me start by saying I have zero experience with a traeger but after everyone raving about it like it’s the best thing since sliced bread and talking with Matt Pittman I had to get one, I ran across a deal I couldn’t refuse! I picked up a new Ironwood 885 any tips or advice for a newbie?

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

Hey man I just picked one up myself and here’s tips ive learned so far:
-Read the manual. Follow it perfectly for the first season.
-keep your pellets in an enclosed bucket to prevent any moisture whatsoever
-after the first seasoning line the deflection plate with foil. I just scrubbed mine after neglecting to foil it initially and it sucked. Also line the drip bucket with foil so you can just trash the grease easily.
-clean out the inside every 20-25 hours cook time
-get a meat thermometer. $12 at Walmart. Any recipe you read will vary but temp never lies
Enjoy man!
get the front shelf for sure, you won’t regret it.
0-400 Wings. Do it tomorrow. You won’t regret it!
