Went to a killer Sri Lankan restaurant in NYC, is there any sit down places here that compare?

I have got-to Sri Lankan spots in the GTA, but they are Jaffna/Tamil style and usually South Indian fusion.

Outside of kotthu roti and short eats, are there any sit down restuarants that serve more Sinhalese/Colombo style food, like in the picture?

I’ve been waiting for a proper Sinhalese restaurant for decades 🥲

PLS SOMEONE TELL US. Some of the best food I’ve had on this earth was in Sri Lanka.

I too need to know this information.

Hopper Hut on Ellesmere and Kennedy has sit down. I can’t tell what style it is though. I usually order lamprais and kothu roti there

Taste of Colombo on Danforth Road has Sri Lankan with Malay dishes as well. Loved their rice and curry, egg roti, watalappam, mani puttu etc

Steamboat Spicy Kitchen is takeout only, the cuisine is sinhalese.

You can also get Lamprais, HBC at Cucini Xpress

I haven’t really had Sri Lankan food in Toronto yet but would love to try it. I had it for the first time in London at a restaurant called hopper and it blew my mind!!!

    Grammar police here.

I see this all the time and it drives me bonkers. “places” is plural, hence the proper phrase is “**are** there any sit down places…”

Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.

Saffron spice kitchen, Mooon rice and Maya’s are close I’d say.

Are those beef rolls / city rolls on the right? I could live off them alone…
