Send it in from what I hear they’re policy is pretty good. I’ve never owned.. best case scenario you have the most expensive oyster knife 🤣 🤣

Fuuuck that. I’d send it to Solingen to see if it’s a manufacturing defect, but I’m in W-EU so that’s relatively cheap. Might as well travel there in person and act all emotional, my wusthofs (+shallots) have already made me cry plenty

Never heard of oyster knife buddy?

This is more common these days I keep seeing this exact snap on this edition of wushtof. I recommend victorinox for a more sturdy blade.

I second sending it in to the manufacturer. I’ve commented before on structural failure of knives and that’s a manufacturer defect. It sheared pretty cleanly along the shank into the tang. They’re going to want to look at the metallurgy of that steel and maybe even recall knives depending on what they find. How do I know? I did impact testing as a part of materials science courses I took and I’m a metalsmith. That’s not normal.

My first Wusthof got broken when an executive chef dropped it. I got upset and he said “what it’s just a knife.” Smh 🤦♂️

Looks like there was an inclusion in the spine of the knife, the dark spot. That’s what caused the failure and any reputable company should warranty such defects, assuming it’s within the warranty window.

Yooooo looks like you went to medieval battle with that. Did you break it sharpening it witha rock?

Look on the brighter side. Now you got a really niche pairing knife

I have had two knives replaced by Wusthof. Both were more than 20 years old. Absolutely fill out the form online. I think they’ve changed their policy, they used to send a new knife, now I think they’ve changed they give store credit. Worst they can say is no.
