Had a great meal at Il Carciofo! We all loved it and are excited to go back again. We tried a lot of different dishes. The service was good and the food was great.
Basil Daisy Cocktail – favorite drink of the evening.
Carciofi all a Guida – Roman style artichokes, poached in oil. Great with the lemon squeezed all over them.
3 & 4. Suppli Ragu – essentially arancini with a really delicious filling. These were packed with way more flavor than anticipated.
Gnochetti Pesto – my least favorite of the three pastas tried. I didn’t love the sauce but the texture of the gnochetti was phenomenal.
Mezze Rigatoni all a Amatriciana – favorite of the three pastas. Really nice and balanced flavor.
Rigatoni alla Carbonara – had a really nice, rich, and salty sauce. The guanciale was nice and crispy.
8 & 9. – Manzo Aprugineo – favorite of the two fornos we tried. Cooked and seasoned very well.
Maiale Al Forno – I thought I’d like this dish more, but it fell flat for me. If you order, make sure you dip the pork all up in the sauce beneath it.
Patate Lardo – yum!! Eating the potatoes with the pork helped to balance the pork out a bit more.
Zeppole, cherry sorbetti, sweet cream gelato, pistachio gelato – Zeppole was a miss. Cherry sorbetti was packed with flavor, wow! So creamy and refreshing. Sweet Cream gelato was boring. Pistachio gelato was incredible. The saltiness contrasting with the sweet was delicious.
I’d order all dishes again with the exception of: gnochetti, maiale al forno, zeppole, and the sweet cream gelato. None of them were bad, just not good enough to get again when there are so many other options on the menu.
