WAUPACA, WI (WFRV) – Since 1932, Simpson’s has served supper to generations. In the present day, it is no longer in the Simpson family but Brynn DeHay is a close family friend who purchased the place with her husband Danny.

After meeting in a restaurant in Oregon, they decided they wanted to raise their two sons Tzion and Omri back in Wisconsin.

They are keeping up all the Simpson recipes and traditions such as the Tom and Jerry cocktail on Christmas Eve.

“I have been coming here for as long as I can remember and Christmas Eve is a big deal,” Brynn told Local 5 News. “Everyone comes in and has Tom and Jerry’s.”

She said the base is almost like a batter made where cinnamon and nutmeg are featured prominently.

“It’s with an egg batter so when you add hot water it poofs up like a souffle. Oh, and the liquor of course. It’s very strong, but it has that wonderful warm, Christmas feel.”

Danny added that the large bar is one of Simpson’s best features.

“I think that’s where it starts. Great bar, great cocktails,” said Danny. “Simpson’s means a lot for Waupaca and the surrounding area and it’s a really good feeling to be a part of.”

It was during the interview on the supper club’s back patio that the DaHay’s sons decided to join the conversation.

“So are you guys going to take over? Or are you already running the place?” Local 5’s Michele McCormack joked.

“I think I am already,” said Omri with a wide grin.

Enough said.
