Semantic nitpick: this is a single-tier, layered cake. A tiered cake is one with multiple, different sized layer cakes stacked on top of each other.
Tip for the filling: make a frosting dam. Pipe a wall of frosting around the edge of the cake layer. Then spread the filling inside. This will keep the filling from oozing out and help fill the gap between the layers. You can also trim the top of each cake layer if there is a significant dome. This will make it easier to stack.
Also, it looks like the sides of the layers are not flush. Did you have parchment paper in the cake tin? I just cut a round to fit the bottom of the tin and then grease the sides. Some people do prefer parchment on the sides, too, but they usually cut a strip to fit so it’s flat against the side. Basically, you want the individual layers to be as uniform as possible to make stacking and frosting easier.
All that being said, the end result still looks great! I’d definitely eat a slice.
I’d eat it.
I say-it’s a great beginning effort. The next one will be even better. Keep asking for advice and tips!! Good Luck!!!
You can practice piping on baking paper to get better at it, and then it’s easy to reuse without wasting anything.
