Time to Replace Hinge Assembly: Thoughts on new hinge design?

I replaced my hinges with the new design a few months ago. Alignment is way easier and I like the movement of the hinge when opening the lid. The new hinges don’t open the lid as high as the old design, which is really the only drawback for me.
The new hinges also work fine with the Jotisserie.

The new hinges are much better. I just wish they had a way to push the lid far enough out of the way for searing and not burn the handle

New hinge design is so vastly superior that I’d recommend updating to it the next time anyone has to take their old hinge off for maintenance.
The springs are totally slack in one lid position and you can take them off. Which means the hinge isn’t trying to kill you during assembly/disassembly.
It also holds in the up position much better.

New hinge > old hinge – opening gap. It’s much better as far as alignment and stability but it does suffer from not opening as much as the old hinge. At least it has the tabs to hold the lid on though, that alone saves a lot of lids during high heat cooks!

They should send out new hinges to everyone with the old hinges. lol it’s FAR better.

I replaced my hinges from old to new design about a year ago. Alignment was no issue at all and it works really well. I suggest finding and watching a video on YouTube so you have an idea of what to expect during the process. You might find tips and tricks to help you as well.
Once I removed the old hinge I replaced the gasket since it was probably the easiest time for that as I could manipulate the lid however I need to make the process comfortable.

i see the comments about the opening size being smaller…does this new hinge design make it hard to get racks like the CGS adjustable rack inside?
