It was crunchy and almost crumbly on the outside and chewy inside. I’ve found recipes for chapssal donuts but those don’t seem as crumbly on the outside/have the same color? I don’t think it had a filling

    Probably 흑임자 (black sesame) or something dark.

    Thought blueberry from the menu at first, but there is one over at the other end (near red masked lady) so I guess it is not written on that menu that is visible on this photo. Plus it is donut not 찐빵, so…

    If it had a slightly translucent, chewy inside without any filling, then it’s chapssal donut. It’s usually the 생도너츠(saeng-donuts. Direct translation is ‘fresh (or raw) donuts’, but they are deep-fried indeed. I don’t know the name sake) that are crumbly on the outside, but the inside of a 생도너츠 is similar to muffins or sweet scones. The black color must be from black sesame seeds.
