I love Japanese goma wakame seaweed salad- the bright green kind you can get from a lot of sushi places in the West (pic here https://www.grocery.coop/recipes/wakame-sesame-salad-with-pickled-onion-garnish ).
All the recipes I can find call for dried wakame seaweed. However, all the dried wakame I can find seems to be a thicker leaf, whereas this salad is always made with thin stands of seaweed that I can’t find anywhere!
Please help, thanks

I have only ever seen this as a packaged product, even in foodservice settings – I think it’s something that is purchased pre-made and I have never seen a recipe for a homemade version.
This type of salad is rarely seen in Japan, but the wakame you’re referring to is “kuki wakame,” which is the stem of wakame, whereas the commonly seen wakame consists of the leaves. They are usually sold salted and refrigerated and maybe harder to find.
