Honestly I love it for home use. I'm not much of a unitask utensil guy but these are so nice for tomato's.

Handy to have in the kitchen drawer for whole cases of tomatoes but you’re a dork if you have one in your personal roll

Tomato shark, if they didn’t disappear I’d use them, totally not needed tool
boredthump
Great tool, but will evaporate from existence within a week.

They are schrodinger’s cat. The literally exist and don’t exist at the same time.
Do we have one of those? “One? We have 50!”
Where are they? “No fucking clue.”

They’re great when you can find them.

A totally handy tool that does it’s job perfectly. But, alas, just like like a tuning fork or ball bearing removal tool it only has one use so I philosophically refuse to buy it.

I have three of these but can find zero

We usually use the metal tip from a piping bag, but this is also cool!
Fit-Judge7447
The apple ones are better for tomatoes

I always find it put back dirty, so I just use a knife
killer_k_c
The pro tip here is just using a large piping tip instead of one of those
Spong_Durnflungle
Ball scratcher? They’re ok but a fork is usually easier to get your hands on when it’s go time.

Great for strawberries as well.

I find the tip of a paring knife to be quicker and easier, but I absolutely always give these out to people who I don’t completely trust their knife skills, because I hate filling out accident reports about people cutting themselves in stupid ways.

I really wish the prep team at Wendy’s would find theirs.

That looks like an aggressive tongue scraper!

I don’t like them. We used the for strawberries, and it was just faster to cut the stems/leaves off.
Also used the to core tomatoes. But it was pointless because we didn’t use the end pieces that had the core anyway. Just a waste of time.
I’m sure they have their place, it’s just not useful wherever I worked.
NoSwimmer9443
Best tools for tomatoes. Anyone can work on the tomatoes and it will be hard for them to fuck it up.

I’m retired and I have one in my home kitchen. Love the damn thing.

Fastest way to get the buttholes out of a bunch of tomatoes
Except for the frowned upon bite/spit method which is way faster.

When I left the industry it was the first thing I got for home use, I grow & can my own tomato products and it’s one of like 3 single-use tools I love.

My restaurant had one of these for 10 years. We even moved locations, and it didn’t get lost. It finally died about 6 months ago. Rip.

I worked at a college cafeteria. Every semester they would clean out the lockers for the kitchen workers. Straight up bolt cutters if you didn’t have a key or just didn’t work there. They cut open one locker from someone that had left months ago and found like 8 of them in there.
