Why is there not a single post on Kvitnes Gård? It was one of my best dining experiences of 2024. Located on the edge of the world, too far north to be visited by the Michelin inspectors but definitely worth of a star (or two).

An immersive farm experience in which you are treated as part of Halvar’s family, being invited to tour the property and before being served 20 dishes each bringing something new to the table, with an amazing non-alcoholic pairing.

Definitely some of the friendliest staff and a fair price as well!

Side note: we were the only English speaking diners, so the Chef explained each dish at our table before serving the rest of the tables. Felt very well taken care of!

Amazing! On my shortlist. Which of the plates were the highlights?

  3. Really enjoyed our dinner there last summer, it’s a beautiful place and I’d very much recommend it to anyone who loves good food, the outdoors and farm-to-table vibes. The fish and seafood courses particularly were amazing in our opinion. Only the desserts fell a bit short for us, but that was more than made up by the rest of the experience.

Did you try the chanterelle liqueur, OP? It was pretty funky.

PS. There’s a salmon aquaculture place in the next town that offers really interesting tours. It’s essentially highly subsidized lobbying, but I’d say it’s still worth it for the RIB boat ride and an insight into a very Norwegian industry.
