It’s been almost a decade since Chick-fil-A removed their fan-favorite chicken salad from menus, and customers are still a long way from recovery.
Chick-fil-A announced the shocking news that the item would be joining its coleslaw in menu heaven in September 2017—though for many, it still stings like it was just yesterday. (Seriously, y’all cannot stop talking about it!)
Bolstered by the recent return of the Key Lime beverages, we asked Chick-fil-A if they had similar plans for the chicken salad this week. Their response was not promising.
“The decision to remove the Chicken Salad in 2017 was a difficult one!” a representative for Chick-fil-A told Southern Living. “We currently do not have plans to bring the Chicken Salad back to our menu, but guests can still make the recipe at home and enjoy the same great taste.”
It’s true. Recognizing the pain the beloved salad’s fanbase was experiencing, Chick-fil-A was kind enough to finally share the recipe for its dearly departed chicken salad in August 2023.
“Chicken Salad was previously available on the menu at participating Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide. Even though it’s no longer on the menu, we’d like to offer the recipe so you can make it in your own kitchen,” the Atlanta-based chain announced on its website.
So, with no sign of the chicken salad returning to Chick-fil-A anytime soon, here’s how to make the discontinued menu item at home:
