Ordering tofu is enough of a regrettable decision already.

Some places legit just do not have actual spicy peppers because no one ever orders actually spicy food, so no matter what you say there’s nothing they can really do.

I’ve been to a Thai place that literally did not have chilis because the people in the town would complain the food is too spicy every single time, so they just stopped wasting money on them.

Not that this is directly related, but any time I go to an indian resteraunt I have to be very clear that I want my food actually spicy, not “white-people” spicy. They always follow through but they just default to mild once they see me.

  4. I ordered aome sort of generic “vietnamese/Americana fusion” dish from a terrible joint in the midwest once and the cook said “do you want it spicy or spicy spicy” and i dont remember challenging him to over spice it but he came out and watched me eat it and i could tell he made it spicy by dumping cayenne pepper on it. I like cayenne but like, it was caked up and totally bizarre. But because i am who i am i ate the whole thing and didnt tip or say a word about it (this was diner style, no waiter)

  5. I’ve pretty well come to accept that nothing will ever be very spicy at these restaurants without tasting awful.

It works well enough for normal people, though. I’m constantly having friends and family tell me I should try something they think is hot.

The one thing I love about Thai restaurants, though, is that I’ve never found one that ruined the flavor trying to make it hot.

    be me.

    order indian food

    order a vindaloo

    order it “indian hot”

use my friends ethic east indian name as the pick up name so they dont stereotype my white ass

enjoy the tasty firestorm of authenticity.

thats the only way ive ever got it “hot enough” or else they are always afraid i will say its too hot to eat like half the other morons out there who only think they like spicy food and try and act tough but bite off more than they can chew

(my Indian friend suggested this to me because he said he KNOWS they stereotype for that reason)

  7. I take small bottles of my own hot sauce with ghost pepper and scorpion pepper in it. They are about the size of a shot glass. Also hot af like it is possible for it to bring me to tears hot and ive been eating hot regularly for like 24 years now.

When ever something is “”EXTRA HOT” I take my own damn sauce and sip on it while eatting so im not disappointed. Ive had ppl ask like servers what i was drinking and i tell them i was dissapointed in their spicyness lvl. So im drinking my own blend of ghost/scorpion peper hot sauce to add flavor to their mild food.

Usually unlocks highest spiciness lvl the cook normally goes to next time i go

  8. Is there a Halal Guys nearby? Just grab some of their hot sauce. The flavor profile is quite versatile. It will make you regret decisions if you use enough.

We used to frequent a local Mexican restaurant and the owner kept a bottle of Da’Bomb hot sauce on him. I’m not sure why, but he challenged me to it and I told him I’d do it if he would as well.
