What is scorched barley / scorched rice? Is it just eaten as a snack? Or put into a light clear broth? Sounds delicious but I wanna know all the different ways I can eat this!

Broth or hot water!

I often eat it as a snack as is. I also put it in boiling water and then eat it with kimchi.

Dip in sugar as a snack. Or if you’re feeling extra – fry in oil and then sprinkle with sugar. Or boil in water for a savory/nutty porridge. Porridge is often eaten with soy sauce and sesame oil.

What everyone said.
I sometimes add it in soybean paste soup and heat/boil until soft. Delicious

누룽지탕 – is a bomb way to eat it

Sometimes I’ll boil it in my left instant ramen broth, otherwise I cook in hot water or barley tea.
Dipped in sugar when dry is also tasty.

I have had it bashed up and tossed with shredded veggies and a dressing. I always thought it was rice but now that I see this, it was barley.

You can also fry it in oil, as is, then dust it with sugar and eat as a snack.

If you have leftover cooked rice you can spread a layer of rice in a pan, sprinkle just a little water (1TBSPish) and cook on low for a while until it turns golden and crispy, flip to get both sides toasty. I usually add a little salt sometime during.

If you make rice at home, would not recommend buying something you can make.
If you don’t, buy it.

Never had the barley but for the scorched rice, you can eat it as is like a snack or I like to put some in my cup of bone broth or any type of soup or both until it gets just a little softer, leaving it nice and chewy. Some people boil it a bit with just water.
