Cline Zinfandel is the best wine under 15 dollars. Change my mind.

Wait, I want to hear why! Never had their zin but their Mourvèdre was fine.

The 2018 is one of the best Zins I’ve had

I got tired of Zin a while ago, but Cline has always had some solid, drinkable and affordable wines in their line up. I liked their Mourvedre in particular. Haven’t been there in years though.

Simple pleasures my friends. May life always be so sweet (& cheery).

Man, in the mid-90s, we’d slurp that stuff up. Then they did the red label “ancient vines” and we slurped that up too. Along our wine journey, we’d gotten away from it, and I got some 3 or 4 years ago, and the cinnamon sweet level made it less enjoyable (won’t go into the generally really minor changes in my palate that I underwent after regaining my taste after COVID. Wife confirmed the cinnamon sweet), and now I’m looking for something better.
Oh. What was the question? Nope. I’m not changing your mind.

Cline delivers solid product in their lane. Agreed, the Mouverde is a winner

Cline is soid for sure. I love the Bogle Petite Syrah for domestic cost-effecient reds.
Also, there are sooooo many great bottles of Grenache out of Europe that are sub $15. But I’m a slut for grenache tho…

My go-to cheap California red is Bogle Petite Sirah.

Cline is pretty good but Seghesio (used to be in the <$20 range) is the champ in my book.

I’d encourage you to try Marietta Cellars “OVR” (Old Vine Red).
It’s a multi-vintage Zinfandel dominant blend that will bend reality around your palate for $13-14. The whole idea behind this wine was to build a high quality, affordable table wine like one would find everywhere in Europe. Marietta Cellars cultivates deep relationships with all the farmers they purchase grapes from and over-pay for the grapes as a means to keep quality high.

Family owned! Solid wine.

The only contender in the price point is Bogle OVZ. Cline leans tobacco, which is admirably off putting enough to garner props on my end. I’ll go Cline if I feel like experimenting. Love them. Bog’s still has the edge IMO.
Remember when Rosenblum was the shit? Marietta’s Lot’s? I really miss killer shit at this price point, but Cline and Bogle kill it always.

For my money J Lohr is my go-to <$15. Los Osos or Seven Oaks. Can’t go wrong with either. And if I have five more dollars, I’m going Justin cab.

My wife is the wine drinker and Cline is too sweet. Her cheap go to is 7 Deadly Zins. $12

If it was 15.50?
Broadbent Vinho Verde Rosé would be my vote
I like Louis Jadot Beaujolais at $12
