TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WICS) — Nathan “Dizzy” Joslin owns and operates Dizzy’s Smokehouse in Taylorville. When he heard about a family needing a meal for Christmas, he jumped at the chance to help.

Dizzy said he contacted the Taylorville Police Department and asked if there was a family that he could offer a dinner. The department gave him the family’s contact, and the rest is history. Dizzy said he’s always cooked for family and more during the holidays.

He says, “I love feeding people, particularly if somebody didn’t have a place to go for the holidays. I wanted them to come over. I’ve got a passion for cooking and feeding folks, and particularly those less unfortunate just hold a place in my heart.”

Dizzy says the family has a full meal ahead including glazed ham, mashed potatoes, corn, apple pie, rolls, and more. However, he says this goes beyond the meal.

He says, “What I’m talking about here today is it isn’t about food. It’s about giving. It’s about thanks. It’s about doing something that’s right.”

Dizzy also tells us he hopes to make this a monthly tradition and continue the season of giving throughout the year.
