Okay, so from what I’ve seen in the comments, it’s actually a soup, not a sauce. Looks like it just needed more shells or maybe it’s one of those things that goes better with some crusty bread. Either way, now that I get what it’s supposed to be, it doesn’t look that bad, honestly.
Adding this to the list if dishes I want to try and make.

My suggestion, butter and flour as a base before adding any milk or cream. Thickens it up proper. Add spices as necessary
