Was smoking some beef ribs, before each use I use my shop vac clean it all out, wrap the drip pan in foil everything is kept super clean. Started the smoker up about 10am, around 5pm bumped it up from 225 to 275. Ribs were sitting around 185. Went back out and the screen said LEr. I pulled the ribs off to finish them in the oven so I could trouble shoot the smoker. When I pulled everything out this is what I seen.

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

Looks like the auger is going way too fast. It should never look like that. If you clean it the way you say you do you might have a potential fire hazard on your hands. If you’re under warranty, call customer support about this.

I keep the hopper full at all times, I never vacuum out the auger I always leave it be, could the cold temps cause this? I’m in the Midwest and it was in the 30s all day

Those pellets look wet I would swap them for different ones

20 Cooks in 18 days is aggressive. Did you
Press clear auger instead of prime after vacuuming it out?

NGL that looks like my mom’s ashtray from the 70s.

Moisture in the pellets can cause this. I keep mine in a sealed pet food container for this reason to keep the humidity low in them.

Make sure the fan is running and the pellets are dry. If that doesn’t fix it I’d consider replacing the hot rod

20th cook in less than 20 days…. Right on buddy!

This happened to me when a mouse somehow made a nest in the fan. Was your fan running?

Mine did that after my 10th or so cook.

Called Traeger. They were easy to work with and sent a new control board out right away. A few days later I was back up and running like normal. Easy repair, took 30 minutes.

Honestly I have no comment… my traeger lit on fire this morning while trying to make a steak. Funny, sad, and true.

Bad pellets or moisture or it wasn’t cleaned properly my guess

Looks like an ash tray from a white trash house in the 80’s. Yikes.

That much use in that little time? Not a bad thing, but have you cleaned it with that much use? Is it protected from the elements? As others have said, pellets look plumped up like they’ve gotten wet. Are you keeping the hopper filled, or has it ran until empty at any point? Few different things off the top of my head I can think of that might cause this.

This happened to me today cause i let the pellets run completely out and when i put more i didn’t put it on the smoke setting so the pellets didnt ignite and the auger kept feeding pellets trying to get to temp

Anytime I’ve had issues, a good cleaning and fresh pellets fixed it

How’d you get the beans above the frank?
