We’re from Singapore so we’ve never tasted Texas BBQ before.
First stop was obviously the world famous Franklin BBQ – brisket was expectedly juicy, tender & delicious, but the unexpected winner was the Jalapeño cheddar sausage. So flavorful and the snap of the casing is amazing. We went on a weekday so the line was not too bad. ($71.32)
Next stop was LeRoy & Lewis – they happened to have the beef cheeks while we were there, and I have to say it might be better than Franklin’s brisket. The additional fat marbling just made all the difference. My personal favorite was the rice and pork gravy, incredible flavor, perfectly cooked fluffy rice and the sourness just adds that hit of acidity that you’re looking for after shoveling a few pounds of meat into your mouth. ($47.97)
We couldn’t miss this sub’s pride and joy, P Terry’s. Deliciously simple burger, excellent ingredients and literally the cheapest food we could find in the entire city. May not have the “wow” factor of some other burger chains, but you can’t beat it for the price. ($8.50)
