This 2016 vintage of Vincent Girardin in Beaune tells a story of resilience. With frosts in April the yields were reduced by more than half. Yet, the remaining fruit thrived in the warm, dry summer that followed. The result? A beautiful story…

On the nose, a bouquet of cherry and licorice spices. Then the leather, plum, and very ripe cherry arrive on the palate, staying with a long, elegant finish typical of the 2016 vintage.

Perfect with an earthy vegetarian roast!

A horrible vintage to work in Burgundy for sure. But what little juice was made is stellar and freakishly age-worthy.
