This easy zeppole recipe is a great one to get the littles involved! Who DOESN’T love sweet deep fried dough covered in powdered sugar?! It’s amazing and worth the wait for the rise for light and fluffy doughnuts! The ingredients you’ll need for this one are:

1.5 cups warm water
2 tsp dry active yeast
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil plus more for coating the bowl
3.5 cups tipo ‘00’ flour
High heat neutral oil for frying (like peanut or canola)

Mix the warm water, yeast and honey together first and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. Then add your other ingredients.

Knead with dough hook for about 5 minutes until dough is formed and elastic.

Place dough in covered bowl in a dark warm place like the oven (turned off) with the light on. I let mine go for like 2 hours and it almost tripled in size.

I used plain canola oil to fry about 3” deep in my tall pot. If you have deep fryer, even better!

Enjoy!
Love,
Maria
