  5. Those Lucky Kids!!! Thanks Emmy this will make a great addition to my recipes for Chocoholics. I was researching this cake and you can use Any type of bean or chickpea And can use a bar of semi sweet chocolate (4 oz, 113g) instead of the cocoa powder. I'd heat the oil and chocolate in microwave or bain marie slowly gently til just melted and proceed with the Zhuzhhhhh. Jacques Mexico PS be sure to blend until everything is smooth as a baby's smile

  7. My sister and mom are gluten sensitive so I often need to improvise so they can enjoy a meal with family. I make banana pudding from scratch, using corn starch to thicken rather than flour. GF vanilla wafers allow me to make a delicious banana pudding that tastes just like we all remember.

  8. People conflate "lots of protein" with "complete protein". They are not the same. Beans may have protein, but they are not a complete protein.

  9. Emmy can you do some videos on freezing food whether it be leftovers over freezer recipes and eating it later? I’m very curious about the beans you’ve mentioned and I’ve wanted to start freezing stuff

  10. You've made some wacko things Emma, I'm surprised you're only now getting to this. I make this when I'm on a diet. I've made this for my aunt's birthday and nobody could guess it wasn't a "standard" cake.

  11. This could be used for a lot of different baked goods. May take some getting used to, but bean and pea flours were all used for years instead of wheat flour for a lot of reasons, mostly white flour was expensive or needed elsewhere like for the troops in WW2.

  12. That looks so good. I would probably do whipped cream in the center…or the chocolate in the center and whipped cream for the frosting. Something to brinkg out the dark chocolate flavor of the cake…. with the frosting or filling to sweeten it up. It looks great!

    Not only does this look delicious, but black beans are nutrient packed!! Not saying we should all eat black bean chocolate cake at every meal, but it helps to know that this dessert option is relatively healthy (ish) ❤

  14. I remember making a gluten free brownie when I was in high school based on I think a Good Eats episode or something like that with black beans. I also realized watching this video that this has three beans in it: black beans, cocoa beans, and vanilla bean.

  17. Gluten is the enemy of cakes, so it just makes sense that other starches would work well. However as long as their sugar added to it I don't think it's fair to call it healthy😅

  18. I didn't like the idea of the recommended pudding frosting from Pancake Princess so I appreciate your suggestion about the Smitten Kitchen frosting. Were your beans salted when cooking?

  19. Reminds me of a gluten free chickpea Blondie bar that I used to make… Chickpeas, peanut butter, agave nectar, baking soda, baking powder… blend together really well, then fold in mini chocolate chips and press into a baking pan. Crack salt over the top and bake. So so good.

  20. i must be the only one who is wondering….does this cake make one gassy?? my husband gets a bit gassy with beans(we all love them…but i’m starting to not like them…)
