    Best in the city.
    Also, absolutely stellar gravy.

Love the fish but the fries need some work. I often find they are almost raw

fish looks delicious with proper handcut chunky fries, and that is a most excellent photograph!

That looks better than when I had it. I thought it really gave off the vibe of being a pre-battered frozen piece of fish.

  5. Such a cool spot too – the seats are old pews from the Church that used to be in area. Went [there back in 2023](https://imgur.com/L5yjY0t) – can’t believe I haven’t been back in so long! Gotta go back soon.

    RIP Penrose fish and chips.

Seawitch is certainly inspired by it but miss the good old days.

Are they cooked in tallow or beef dripping?

Would you guys say this is the best fish & chips in town?

Tasty but very oily. Can be scaled down up on request though. Excellent chowder too

My favourite go-to for fish and chips.

Also, for the families out there, they’re a really good restaurant to visit with young kids!

  11. Fun fact, the owners of Sea Witch used to work at Penrose Fish and Chips on Mt.Pleasant. Previous to Sea Witch it was the best fish and chips in Toronto.
