Can anyone tell me what the sauce is on top of these rice cakes? It was so delicious and I’m trying to replicate it at home

    That looks like Mitarashi Dango.
    You can find recipes online it’s basically a glaze made of mirin, soy sauce, sugar, water and potato starch

    I do soy sauce and sugar and dip my mochi in it.

    I also do sautéed weenies and onions with the soy sauce and sugar mixture and serve with rice. It was a popular thing to feed to kids growing up but I still love it!
