LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Llano Estacado Winery, one of Texas’ largest and oldest wineries, is expanding its reach across the state.
The winery, founded in 1976 in Lubbock, is planning new tasting rooms in locations including Cactus Alley this April and Fredericksburg, as part of a broader effort to grow its presence.
The new leadership group, led by investors Kevin Glasheen and Noe Valles, aims to offer more access to Llano Estacado’s acclaimed wines while enhancing the visitor experience.
“Well, I have a belief in any business that if you aren’t growing you’re dying. So, we need to grow the business,” Glasheen said. “Our facilities at the winery are fantastic production facilities but they could be better for hospitality. So, we plan on building bigger and better hospitality facilities out at the winery itself.”
The expansion is a big focus but the experience is important. Glasheen said the wine-making team is talented and will stay in place.
He said Llano is missing a way to get the product right from the winery.
The planned expansion is set to include a state-of-the art facility in Fredericksburg, with further growth expected in the coming years.
The winery is also looking to enhance its hospitality services to better serve wine lovers across Texas.
As for the new location in Cactus Alley, Glasheen said it’s a special place to continue to grow within Lubbock.
“This courtyard is a special place because you feel like you’re not in Lubbock and it’s kind of a peaceful refuge from the city, it’s so close to Texas Tech and the hospitals and Marsha Sharp,“ Glasheen said. ”We think its a great place for people to come by and stop and grab a glass of wine with their friends.”
