WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — There are a handful of Washtenaw County organizations offering free meals to those who are in need or alone this holiday season.
Here’s where to find them.
Robert J. Delonis Center, 312 W. Huron St., Ann Arbor
Food Gatherers is offering another year of Christmas meals at the Delonis Center, 312 W. Huron St. in Ann Arbor.
The group is offering dine-in meals from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25. The organization is also providing meals on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
Food Gatherers operates its community kitchen out of the center.
Hope Clinic, 518 Harriet St., Ypsilanti
There will be another spot for free meals in Ypsilanti with the help of Hope Clinic.
Hope Clinic, known for providing those in need with healthcare, free food, behavioral healthcare and other services, is handing out hot, to-go meals from 5 to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. The group will also give out meals on New Year’s Eve as well.
Word of Deliverance Church, 1005 Midway Road near Ypsilanti
The Ypsilanti-area church will also have a special Christmas Eve distribution from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
Chelsea Hospital, 775 S. Main St.
Trinity Health Michigan’s Chelsea Hospital is opening its dining room from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25, for its free Christmas meal. The goal is to give community members who are alone or unable to afford a meal a place to enjoy the holiday, organizers said.
Registration is required, and anyone interested must call the Chelsea Senior Center at 734-475-9242 by Monday, Dec. 16.
