A store offering cooking classes, knife sets and steamers is closing in the Knox-Henderson area.

Sur La Table, a national chain with roots in Seattle, is shuttering the shop that’s been there since 2016. The company will keep its other Dallas store open at Preston Royal, along with Southlake and Fort Worth, a spokesperson said in an email.

The company is joining other retailers pulling back on their real estate, including Macy’s and Kohl’s, amid ongoing challenges for traditional shops competing with online options and changing consumer tastes. The Sur La Table closure also comes amid strong interest in Knox-Henderson, which has seen new developments and stores around the area.

Sur La Table is not currently planning any new locations in the area, the spokesperson said. The website said the store at 4525 Cole Ave., Ste. 190, closes permanently Jan. 25.
