I cook for a living. The start of my love for cooking stems from this box. It has cut outs from old magazines and hand written cards from family and family friends. I’m now the 3rd generation to have this. I’m trying my best to type them out to make sure I have them all somewhere else in case anything happens. It’s hard….a lot of old school cursive that all blends together. Hoping this reignites some love for the classics! Always happy to share anything I have.

Care to share any once you get it all typed out? I love reading about old stuff recipes especially!

Can I recommend you scan them into a digital form as well? Great to have them typed but keep the handwritten form digitized in case something happens

Im liking the sounds of the Carrot Bar recipe. Sounds intriguing.

This looks like a delightful (Midwestern?) treasure. Hope your rhubarb bars turn out just like you remember!

  5. I think I’ve seen some of these on Mid-Century Menu, this is cool!

  6. I’m old and can help you with the cursive if you get stuck

  7. Omg that’s awesome! Cherish it dude! My family before me were illiterates so there were no written recipes. The only one family recipe I need to always memorize is my mom’s mole from Oaxaca – very rare and important 🙏🏼

I have the contents of my grandmothers recipe drawer. I’ve moved several times and slowly gone through & gotten rid of most of the books after taking out any pages we used. A binder of old food splattered pages is one of the things I’d save if my house was on fire. I remember when granny and I got the frosting on the white cake page.
