I Just Discovered Philly Cheesesteaks – This is Insane!

There’s tons of advice in the comments. IF you choose to recreate this, regardless of the cut of beef you choose, freeze it before slicing it. That’s the only way to get it sliced thin enough. Cut the beef while it’s freezing cold. Don’t be intimidated by the comments… as long as the beef is sliced really thin, you’ve already won, regardless of the variables you choose after that. Happy cooking!
I personally love Philly steak however I haven’t eaten bread in three years. It’s great without the bread
Food for thought , it’s 3 day shipping and cost $121 usd to have a Philly Cheese Steak Shipped to Portugal . I used to over night Philly Cheese Steak’s to my friends in North Carolina and Florida, just to say hi ! Sometimes I’d ship them some Tasty Cakes also.
There’s so many variants , wiz wit , wiz without, American wit , American without. Mushroom wiz wit , Mush Swiss without, Then there’s Pizza Steaks it’s a Philly cheese steak Without fried onions ,pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and a toasted roll . Then Philly cheese stakes cousin, the Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak.
Philly is known for Food, Fighting, and History. It’s called the city of brotherly love , People from Philly say it’s the city of the brotherly shove . You either love it or hate it, there’s no in between. I love it
Definitely make a video cooking up some philly cheesesteaks!!
ive been to both PATS & GINOS…. they are literally right across the street(triangle) from each other… and i gotta say… Ginos has more "hype" but PATS has BETTER FLAVOR!!!!! BOTH ARE VERY GOOD RESPECTABLE CHEESE STEAK SANDWICHES BUT PATS IS THE BEST!!!!! HANDS DOWN…
AND IF YOU ARE A CHEF AND YOU ARE PLANNING ON MAKING YOUR OWN…. THE BEEF AND CHEESE NEED SALT!!! I PREFER A SMOOTH MELTING CHEDDAR LIKE "COOPER SHARP" AND THE BREAD IS VITALLY IMPORTANT…. GOOD FRESH CRUSTY OUTER SHELL WITH A SOFT FLUFFY INTERIOR… NOT HOT DOG BUN TEXTURE BUT MORE LIKE A LESS DENSE FRENCH BAGUETTE… good luck dude… also put some red sauce… like tomato purree or marinara or a quality pizza sauce for dipping… and ADD OINIONS WHILE COOKING!!!! AND SALT N PEPPER… I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH… SEASON IT WELL… NOT TOO MUCH… DONT GO APE SHIT ON IT BUT USE A HEAVY SPRINKLE OF SALT WHILE COOKING ON THE FLAT TOP… im out
As an old Philadelphian there is one thing that is missing from your cheese steaks. In my youth a really good cheese steak waas judged by the pizza sauce put on it. Italian pizzarias and hoagie shops often made their own pizza sauce. A good ladle full of pizza sauce on the cheese steak added the right amount of zip.
Has to be shaved thin beef… has to be American cheese, preferably Cooper Sharp… has to have fried onions… mushrooms if possible… has to have hot sauce on it, preferably Franks…. has to be on a soft long roll…
lived in philly for over a decade, and the best cheesesteak isnt even in it. it's across the river in Camden at a place called Donkey's. a good cheesesteak is decadent and oily and full of real provolone and grilled onions. i moved away from philly last summer and although it was a good move i do miss the best sandwhich in the country.
You should learn about canadian poutine easy to make
So, i don't watch your videos because all you do is watch other people. You are a parasite, feasting off of other people's work… and its pathetic!!! With that said, may i also point out that enjecting the word "even" into a sentence does not make you sound particularly intelligent!!! I mean really, what "even" is your intelligence level???? Not very intelligent, by my estimation.
You can also mix cheessteak with italian sausage at a 50/50 mix. Absolutely delicious. Throw some fried onions on your cheese steak for an added treat.
Provolone cheese! Wiz is like eating plastic! I am happy to see the born and raised Philadelphians are Asian! We are a diverse city of many neighborhoods and cultures. I'm black from North Philly, btw.
Love me a Philly Cheesesteak
Ribeye is the best to use but people use sirloin and chip steak to make steak sandwiches. Salt, pepper, a good soft long roll and a choice of cheese you like with onions.
You are making things that most Americans don’t make!
Cheesesteaks for us Philadelphia’s are like Borsch for Russians part of our daily diet, which is also why we’re so much fatter but happy😂
You can get a chicken cheesesteak or a pork sandwich as well equally as good cooked the same way
Lots of people don't like green / red bell peppers on their cheese steaks, i do. To me it adds more sweet flavor
Thinly sliced ribeye, Italian hearth baked bread (a little crunchy is best), cheese of choice (provolone or cooper sharp preferred), onions or other toppings. Cook directly on griddle for best results.
When adding cheese, add it directly to the meat on the griddle, then cover with lid and melt cheese with steam. Mix the meat again once melted for even coverage on meat. Put roll on griddle to toast lightly. Then cut and serve.
A good ribeye, and the bread are key.
Water ice is basically just shaved ice with flavored syrup. It's a great local desert.
"This is perfection in a sandwich"
Yup
Hi im a philadelphia 🤪 its a good meal 😋
I eat at least 1 a week
Shaved steak only. No ground beef 😢
You can do it. I worked at a restaurant that served these. It was in the Pittsburgh area. Most people ordered it with American cheese. Pissed me off every time I had to make it. Just use cheese wiz or mozzarella or provolone. We had all those options and they never used it.
You can always tell someone that's not from Philadelphia because they don't eat the sandwich correctly. You must respect the tilt. That means you have one hand over 1 hand under you, tilt your head slightly to the side and you bite from the top to the bottom top to the bottom this way, nothing falls out and you get all of that good flavor. Without losing a drop.
One of the only good things to come out of Philly…
if you visit the area i will show you where to get the best in the area without dealing with fighting with city traffic to get it. theres tourist spots and then theres real places people recommend.
I absolutely love how you're really coming into your own doing these food reactions where you actually cook. You should invite some friends over who wouldn't mind being on video and have them try stuff too once you get a recipe down. Also, you really need to make the Philly Cheese-steak sandwich, it is incredible. I prefer the version that uses just provolone for cheese, but all versions are amazing if done right. You can slice the beef with a food processor if you have one!
I’m a bread snob, love a good seeded Italian roll BUT when it comes to cheesesteaks the classic is a soft Amoroso style roll a provolone or American cheese – never whiz. Thinly chopped steak is crucial because the cheese creates a gooey consistency as it melts into the meat. Classic and delicious.
As someone native to the Philly area, a very important aspect for a good cheesesteak is the bread. You want a roll that is soft on the inside but has a decent crust. The reason why is because you want all the juices and cheese to be able to soak into the bread but you don't want the sandwich to get soggy.
Nah friend, Subway is only good if you're trying to lose weight. Comes with the same "out by breakfast" guarantee any decent taco has.
Grew up in Phlly (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania east coastof USA) and live outside of Philly now. Pat's and Genos have a major competition going on. I only go to Pat's or Genos when I'm drunk after a night at the clubs. It helps me sober up food. LOVE my Cheese steaks, but if you really want a treat try a pizza steak. It is a cheese steak with pizza sauce. We are a bunch of fat people over here in Philly. Oh and Philly is the biggest small town in America. Everybody knows everybody.
Make some papo seco but longer. Thin sliced beef ribeye or sirloin and provolone. Hot griddle, cook the meat 80% done, add cheese to melt and scoop onto warm bread.
I like your videos but they are too long
I'm not a fan of cheese whiz. I prefer provolone on my cheese steaks with fried onions, mushrooms and mayo. Mmmmm….
Hoagies are great stuff. I love all the different submarine sandwiches we have managed to invent in the US.
Try to make one and he said "Holy sweet Potatoe" lololololol
If you ever get sick of regular cheesesteaks you can do chicken cheesesteaks instead!
Love philly cheesesteaks but I'm in Canada. I get one at least once a month. It's a hard pick between this and the a Ruben sandwich.
