I just replaced the RTD sensor this morning the replacement from traeger was causing HEr when the temp was never high. Currently 11f outside and I'm running the thermal blanket. Do you all think these readings are normal compared to the readings on the PiD?

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

I have the pro 22, same blanket and also replaced the RTD sensor for same HEr error a few years back. I’ve always found the PiD temp off, if I set to 225, external probes always read higher (275 or higher)…
I basically have a probe permanently on the grill and set controller settings based on this probes reading readings as the PiD is always inaccurate (for me at least).
Kinda sucks, but it’d a work around I’ve gotten used to and just sorta ignore the Traegers reading.
Not sure if this helps, but Gluck!
Look into lava lock tape, start with lid closed everytime, vacuum pot after 5 hours of use or after any cook longer then 4 hours (ribs, roasts, etc), look into buying a steel replacement heat baffle and heat baffle shield since the originals warp (Amazon, just make sure they aren’t made of cheap materials aka check reviews since they are aftermarket) i have the same model and struggled with cooks and temps for the 1st 3 months I had it. It’s been 2 years and haven’t had a serious issue since doing these things. There will always be hot spots on the smoker, just find them and cook things accordingly!
I don’t know that the probes can be trusted since they are touching the metal grate.
I have a Pro 34 and actually reached out to Traeger on the Temp differences between the Traeger probe and my Thermaworks Signal.
They gave me the whole, “ we don’t trust third part thermometers” though my Signal has a calibration certificate with it.
There response was also to provide a link that gave me instructions on how to test the temp readings. In a sense get the ambient temp outside and compare to the temp shown when the Pro 34 is first turned on. Said to be within 20 degrees and it’s working fine.
With that test both the Traeger and the Signal read within 5 degrees of my local airports reported temps.
