Instead of just leaving them in the boxes they came in…
Sometimes I really don't understand what goes on in some people's minds 😂

All the dates were mixed and jumbled of course.

Damn, I thought this was a bunch of chocolate and strawberry milk for a second and I got super excited.

1. That definitely sucks, but 2. Some places don’t allow any cardboard in storage, walk-in included. What’s the rules for your area and did y’all get any new hires recently?

Open the top of the box. Grab one of the tabs on the top and rip it down. Stack the boxes, you can now just pull containers out of boxes while also having them stacked.
You also do not want to stack milk, cream, etc. on it’s side because they will start to leak over time. Not all of them, but it just takes 1. I worked in cafes for 16 years, so I can guarantee you this will be a pain in the ass.
If they don’t come in boxes tell the milk guy you want some crates, and stack them in crates.

Is the chocolate milk for serving or do you use it culinarily?

One of my jobs doesn’t allow boxes of things like this to stay packed. I think it has to do with how they do their weekly inventory. Can’t inventory a walk in, freezer, dry food storage and paper product in an hour if you’re fucking with boxes.

We removed all cardboard for sanitation purposes. It can be messy but cardboard is a virulent source of contamination.

In my building we unpack everything like that and write received dates on all the individual things like that. It helps with seeing how much product you have to not over order and also helps make sure things get put away where they’re supposed to be because you can clearly see it. We definitely wouldn’t have stacked them like it’s Jenga either

I always keep 10-20 milk crates around for general purpose stuff like this.

If you’re gonna take it out of the box, at least arrange it right.
I work at a place that doesn’t do a whole lot of volume so we’ll only use 2 or 3 quarts of heavy cream a night. I can’t stand when people rip the box halfway open and pull out one, so I’ll pull them out of the box when they come in.

If it’s the outer layer of shipping cardboard or if it has any staining we don’t have it in the refrigerator.

Found the dipshit that puts full cardboard boxes in the walk in.

Packaging often contains pests. Some kitchens never bring the packaging into the kitchen.
