Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Hamilton Beach slow cooker. The lid has a black rubber seal.

The paint on the rubber seal is peeling a little. Is this fine? Will it continue to get worse and make it not useable?

I am asking so I can figure out if I need a replacement

  1. That’s the seam they glued together, and it’s peeling from a bad bonding job. It would be a manufacturing error, so should be covered for a replacement from manufacturer.

  2. Most crockpots nowdays don’t even have a rubber seal on the lid, so I think you can use it and be OK. If it’s still under warranty, I’d for sure ask for a replacement. I have a HB lid from my 20 year old cooker that I kept after the cooker died recently. (RIP) My new HB lid didn’t have the rubber seal, so I’m using the 20 year old one and it still looks brand new.
