WINDSOR N.Y. — Seventh graders at Windsor Central Middle School visited the American Legion Post 80 to prepare Christmas meals for the annual Bandera Family Christmas Dinner.
The Bandera Christmas Dinner has served thousands of families across the Southern Tier on Christmas Day for 35 years.
Windsor students worked together to prepare food, snacks and desserts for next week’s dinners.
Bill Bandera said getting the community involved in the process is what it’s all about.
“What we like to do is what’s happening behind me right now, is involve as many people as we can in the community to help prepare those meals to serve them on Christmas day,” said Bandera.
Bandera said although the work done for the dinner may look chaotic, the organization has it down to a science.
“They probably do 20 percent of what we would have to get done anyways,” said Bandera. “They get it done in 90 minutes.”
Bandera said they anticipate serving 4,600 this Christmas.
