Black Gold in Austin, TX. Open for 3ish months.

Duroc pork ribs are the star here. I don’t think I’ve had a better rib. Imagine moist brisket on a rib. Brisket was underwhelming appearance wise, but still tasted took. Looks like a Carolina style whole hog pulled pork. Some bark on the pulled pork would have been nice to add flavor.

White cheddar mac and cheese delicious. Decadent potato salad. Excellent bacon wrapped green beans.

I wanted to try the duck and picanha, but those weren’t available for lunch. Dinner service is probably a little better than lunch service.

Overall, room for improvement on the fundamentals, but I think other meats are supposed to shine here.

How much was the bourbon? Is that an entire bottle of bourbon on the table? $122 is insane, but if you add a bottle of bourbon… it’s just weird rather than insane.

  3. The whole menu looks great – going to check it out soon.

Doesn’t seem unreasonably priced since they’re clearly going for an upscale experience but I’m a little concerned about the lack of bark. If it’s still as good as you said though I wouldn’t knock them for it.
    Looks like a good time!

Photograph should be on their wall. Fantastic table art.
