Four plants grown on a whim from a Beefsteak tomato I was having for lunch in Feb 2024. Things may have got a little out of hand… So far I’ve enjoyed 22 lbs (10 kg) of fruit throughout the year. I’m in the southern hemisphere.
Watering and fertilizer is automated, but tuning for happy plants is an ongoing process. I’ve had two major mishaps over the year where I almost killed them while away on work travel. The first was a software bug, and the second was underestimating water use for a trip and running the 5 gal (20 L) tank dry. There are still remnants of the last event from early December showing, but they’ve come back strong now and are churning out fruit once again.
I’ve intentionally let them go (with a little guidance) to make a green privacy screen as I haven’t been able to close the actual curtains for 6 months. The ceiling is 8 ft (2.4 m) for anyone wondering.

You’re not using grow lights? Just put them by the window?
