MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – A nonprofit in Marquette County is again giving people the chance to enjoy some great food before Christmas Day.
On Christmas Eve, the Kiwanis Club of Marquette will give out its annual free Christmas dinner. Anyone can pick up a meal from the city’s Salvation Army from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The club will also be delivering meals to families from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Neal Crothers of Kiwanis Club Marquette says this is a fun way to give back.
“Just a matter of a few years ago, we were serving about 300 meals,” Crothers said. “Demand has become much higher, whether it’s the cost and different things of serving up a meal such as this and it’s increased to about 450 meals.”
The meal will consist of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables and a large selection of pie. Organizers say they want to thank all the volunteers who help out every year.
