These are the kimchi brands at my local market. Which one do you prefer?

Korea Kimchi is the best by far. Are you in the Chicago area by chance?

Korea kimchi!!! I buy it by the bucket. Just watch to make sure it’s sealed properly because I had one leak on me in the car which isn’t a fun smell to get out.

So expensive! I just buy the kimchi that my Asian grocery store makes themselves. It’s more affordable and better for the environment.

I make my own and yes I use Korean chili paste

I have had bad luck with the Mat Kimchi, so avoid that imo

Korea Kimchi 100%. It’s the best one I’ve had since I started eating kimchi. Also, and maybe it’s just me, the first picture has the spiciest kimchi

I haven’t tried them myself, but I’m always down for some kimchi!

The kimchi that has only korean on the label….I got disappointed many times with westernized kimchi brands 🙁

I look for ingredients that do not include MSG. No, I’m not a crazy person. I like MSG just fine. But, in my experience with premade kimchi, those with MSG often have an overwhelming flavor of MSG.

And not the msg flavor you get from fish sauce or salted shrimp, which is more complex, but just pure msg. It overwhelms the kimchi flavor for me and I can’t taste anything else.

I love that mat kimchi, I wish they sold it in bigger containers!

Jongga is always a good choice. I’m in Canada and that’s what my Korean husband and I mostly buy.

Jongga is the top brand and usually more expensive

  13. omg yes jongga 😩 what’s going on chat 🥺

  14. Jongga was my go to when I couldn’t make it or had my aunts kimchi

I have never tried these brands, but purely based on the packaging I can say the that big tub is probably better than the rest. The one on the very left is vegan, so it’ll likely lack the depth of flavor that comes from fish sauce and brined shrimp. The one in the middle is made for an international (aka not Korean) market, so it’ll likely be less strong tasting as good kimchi should be. The one in the big tub looks okay, but tbh you’ll probably get a better product if you make your own!

Daikon for me. I mean, I’ll eat any kimchi you put on the table but daikon is my favorite. I love the crunch.
