LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The Little Rock Compassion Center is gearing up to serve a traditional holiday dinner with all the trimmings for those in need.
Officials with the Center say meals will be provided from Christmas Day, December 25, through Sunday, December 29.
Each day, hundreds of people are expected to be served. Additionally, food boxes filled with ingredients for Christmas dinners, take-out meals, hygiene kits, and warm winter clothing will be distributed to those in need.
The Compassion Center is calling for donations to ensure they have enough food to serve the community. The center is asking for numerous frozen turkeys, hams, more than 500 pounds of potatoes, canned vegetables and fruits, dry bags of dressing, dinner rolls, and dessert items. The center plans to deep fry turkeys each day to include in holiday food boxes.
Hygiene bags are also in demand, with shampoo, combs, brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand cream, soap, hand sanitizer, feminine hygiene items, razors, and shaving cream all being in short supply.
Warm winter clothing is another critical need. The center is seeking donations of coats, hats, scarves, gloves, socks, underwear for men and women, and blankets.
Donations can be dropped off at the Compassion Center’s main dining area located at 3618 W. Roosevelt Street. Financial contributions are also welcomed and can be made online at the center’s website.
The Little Rock Compassion Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing homeless, disadvantaged, and chemically dependent individuals with food and clothing, offering guidance and hope.
